I’m having trouble putting my thoughts on paper – I have so many. Bottom line: This book will really help people. If people take the exercises seriously, are ready to really look inward, and do a deep dive into their lives, then it’s up to them just how different their lives can be. I like that this book reinforces the narrative that the reader is in control of their outcome. They are the ones who must figure out what works for them to maintain their life plan (journaling, meditation, therapy, bibliotherapy, etc.). Another part I liked was when Dr. Kahneman’s thinking system was used as an analogy to describe how we need to shift our ways of thinking. It made it easier to understand how automatic our behavior is. I’ll end with this – this one line in particular spoke to me, page 37, “We are what we think. We can change our thoughts by increasing our self-awareness, understanding our issues and sensitivities, and making better choices.
